I think we should adopt as a motto, “Nonstop Trust in God.” Two of our ministers just preached from Psalm 91 to a congregation in Mexico City, returning home the day before Sept. 19th’s devastating earthquake. Messaging the pastor there, they rejoiced to hear that everyone in the congregation was unharmed. Not even the building was damaged, yet they are close enough to the school that collapsed to join rescue and recovery efforts there. The seed of the Word of God prevailed in and through them.
We pray for those suffering natural disasters, devastation and loss, for their faith, strength, safety, and hope to see the new course for their lives. Focusing on loss prevents recovery. Recovery and restoration begins on the inside with a right focus. You can take hold of the worst that has happened and turn it around, mastering personal recovery through our Lord Jesus Christ.
September’s conference, Repairers of the Breach, inspired this prayer for us all: “Lord, we come to you this hour and thank you for your presence, your power, your light. We thank you that you made us so that we can be one with you. Help us in every area of our life that is not yet one with you. Help us to be restored to your total image, your total way.
“Thank you, Lord, for the Holy Spirit, who guides us and gives us the truth we need. We thank you for our families, and we pray that you might send angels to those who don’t know you as they should, angels that can influence and lead them. We thank you, Lord, and ask you to send individuals into the lives of our loved ones, individuals they will listen to and learn from.
“And Lord, may it never be said of any of us, “Where was their God?” because you will be ever with us in all days and in all things and under all conditions. And I thank you, Lord, that with the help of the Holy Spirit, and your pure grace, and out of a pure and humble heart, it will be said of each and every one of us, “Their God was with them.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
